Chernobyl 2 (on April 2015) - Experts predict increase in cancer after the new fire. How can you protect yourself?
Exactly on the day, 29 years after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, the worst man made disaster ever – Chernobyl is on fire again.
This time it's not the nuclear plant itself that is on fire (yet), but the area around it. The worst forest fire ever is raging around the old disaster area.
Investigators says that the fire may have been started intentionally by someone, with a cigarette.

At least 25,000 people gave their lives, while working to handle the radiation from spreading.
Should we worry already and try to protect ourselves, or are we safe, as long as the fire hasn't spread to the old nuclear plant?
Except for the old nuclear plant with its reactors, the area is at the same time a radioactive cemetary, where old burned out nuclear waste is burried. How much? Almost 1 million, or preciselly 886,000 tons of nuclear waste is burried in the surroundings of the old Chernobyl nuclear plant.
The problem is that nuclear radiation has contaminated the ground and vegetation all around the Chernobyl area heavily, and now that the wild fire is raging, that radiation is released and emitted into the air again.
The winds are then taking the atomic radiation into the atmosphere around the globe. Of course, the closest neighbors are getting the heaviest contamination, e.g. the Ukraine itself, Russia, Central Europe and the Nordic / Scandinavian countries, like Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
Experts are worried that radioactive radiation is emitted, as much as 20-30% of the original disaster in 1986, already from the enormous forest fire. That's as much radiation as a very serious leak from a nuclear plant could be, this time without an actual nuclear plant leak.
Strangly enough, with the greatest disaster in mans history, now repeating itself and the western media is hardly mentioning it at all. Even if the radioactive spread was only a tenth of its original strength, its serious enough. Meanwhile, stations like RT are reporting everyday since April 29th 2015 and experts are really worried about this wild forest fire, as its radioactive smoke is being carried around the world, through the atmosphere, predicting a wave of new cancer cases.

Christopher Busby commented on how far radioactive particles can potentially spread: "After Chernobyl itself, they ended up in the atmosphere and they went right across the Baltic States and into Finland, and over Sweden, and then to the United Kingdom, where they caused significant increases in cancer."
John H. Large says the high temperatures and volumes of smoke produced in a forest fire can take contaminants hundreds of kilometers away from the exclusion zone: "Radiation really doesn't respect any international boundaries."
Forest fires have happened in the area before, but have never been so serious, Timothy Mousseau, biology professor at the University of South Carolina, told RT:
"Previous forest fires had re-released about eight percent of the radiation from the original catastrophe. The fire that we're seeing today seems to be on a much larger scale, and so we could see a re-dispersion of a very significant component of the original radiation."
Another problem is that as the trees that have absorbed contaminants burn up and release smoke, this turns radioactive particles into a much more dangerous form than if they simply lie in the ground.
"Internal radiation from inhalation - in other words, if you inhale something radioactive and it gets inside you - is very much more dangerous than just the background radiation that comes off the ground," says Christopher Busby, the scientific secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risks.
What is nuclear radiation or radioactivity?
Radioactive radiation comes from atoms of very high positive energy, which isn't very positive for our health of course. An atom with a positive energy balance is called an isotope, and means that there is more protons than electrons, and therefore the radioactive isotope is unbalanced and seeks electrons from other atoms and molecules to balance itself, which are then ripped apart.
